Best UK Credit Cards - Comparison website where you can see who offers the best credit card deals for purchases, balance transfers and loyalty rewards.

Credit cards are best to use if you want to borrow a small amount of money for a short time. Ideally you should be able to pay the money off quickly and avoid where possible interest charges. Many issuers offer low or 0% interest for an introductory time, on purchases and/or balances transferred. These offers tend to last for a period of between 3 and 12 months, after which the rate will generally be increased to the standard rate for that card. If you tend to carry a balance on a credit card then this kind of offer may save you money, although you need to check the fees which might apply with 0% balance transfers.

Chip and PIN - Chip and PIN was first introduced in 2004 and has changed they way we use a credit card to pay for goods and services. Instead of using the card holders signature to verify payments, a four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) is now entered into the card payment terminal. The use of Chip and PIN became a requirement in shops from February 2006. Figures from the Association of Payment Clearing Services (Apacs) suggest the scheme is working as in 2005, there was a reduction of nearly £60m in counterfeit and fraud on lost and stolen cards when compared to the figure for 2004.
